Mason taught in Washington County for about 35 years, taking only respite to care for his two sons.
She began attending an alternative school, working with some older children with behavioral problems.
She then circled several elementary schools, eventually settling down at Washington Primary School in Marietta, where she currently teaches third grade.
During all of her years to educate children, she has seen many changes in the educational system, but the changes in her mind are those brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.
Well, definitely COVID and certainly online. Of course when I started we didn’t do anything with computers, ”Mason said. “Preschool and first-grade children must now receive computer instruction.”
After all these years in the field, Mason learned a thing or two. For new teachers, she says the first year is always the I’m done teaching let’s go hiking vintage shirt hardest year.

“I really feel sorry for the teachers starting this year, because it’s going to be really, really difficult,” Mason said. “The first year is definitely the hardest. And I mean, stay as flexible as you can and keep learning new things. Come see some veteran teachers who can give you some advice ”.
Like many teachers, Mason became an educator because of her love for children.
“I love children. I really do,” Mason said. “That’s what makes me so happy to be in school right now, being with the students themselves. They crack me every day.”
And in As she loves her job and her students, Mason plans to retire in the next few years. She says she’s thinking of young teachers trying to get into the field, and she may need to make room for them, but, for sure she will miss the I’m done teaching let’s go hiking vintage shirt work she has done all this time.

“It will be very difficult. It will be really, really hard. I know when we dropped out of school this past summer and part of spring it was really hard for me. I just hate being at home all the time.
