That’s ridiculous! Absolutely overkill on the Homey In Living Color Don’t Play That Shirt. But this just goes to show how important it is to obey the laws of a host nation when you are there. People need to realize that drug charges can be a whole different ballgame in foreign countries! Our drug laws are stiff, but the USA is still the best place to misbehave! So sorry for her though.
While I feel bad for her, it isn’t anyone’s fault but her own. Don’t like the laws in a country other than your own, then don’t go there. Singapore is a wonderful country, just don’t break the law. They still have caning on the books for 35 different offenses. This is the “Homey In Living Color Don’t Play That Shirt” case of two bads making to wrongs. Wrong taking cannabis to another country (as if she was at home!), wrong the decision of 7 and a half years for 9 grams of cannabis which is over-exaggerated. To regret both of them, she and the Russian law system.
There are a lot of defiant young adults trying to impose their rules wherever they go, thinking that it is America. Unfortunately, life teaches them a tough lesson. I don’t think weed is such a big deal and 7.5 years is a long time for weed but unfortunately, if you break the Homey In Living Color Don’t Play That Shirt, you break the law. She made a poor choice and she has to deal with that. I wish she had made better choices. You are not above the law, no one is.
